A post from the main board...Internal vs. External

"Kung fu verses Kickboxing

In one of the classes I train in I also train alongside kickboxing students, and sometimes find that they laugh at the Kung fu forms etc…
Where in fact what they are learning is just an off shoot of the same style.
Does anybody else find this with Kickboxers?"

In some ways, I think this is an example of a (not THE, or THE ONLY) difference between learning internal first, or external first. The kickboxers learn external, and no internal, while the kung fu stylists’ forms may be slow and strange looking, and appears far from anything that could win a fight.
