the pentagon is a great shape!!! hey did you know the creative and destructive cycles can be reversed also??

5 emotions, 5 seasons, 5 orientations, 5 directions, 5 colors, 5 aspects of survival, 5 spiritual aspects... i was musing over how water nurtures wood, but too much water causes the tree rot, fall over, and dam up the stream, which causes a bit of stagnation in the general flow of things.

there are many symbolism in postures.

in ba ji

1 the opening posture, when you move one arm forward, and the other arm backward and assume empty stance

it is called gauging the heaven and earth or liang tian di.

2 if your other arm is close to your body, it is called opening or drawing the bow or kai gong shi. meaning you only open one arm.

3 the closing posture, one arm is straight and the other arm with bent elbow,

it is called single wing push or dan yi ding.

there are many taoism symbolism, too.

right now the two most profoundly effective shapes for me are the circle and the spiral... perfect rotation - torque energy is very powerful... been practicing alot with it on the heavy bag recently... rolling in and out from elbow, shoulder, and body strikes. turning both symbols sideways on a two dimensional plane likewise creates a straight line, therefore ultimately i have been playing with 3 symbols... kinda like a triangle.
