Thumbs up health benefits of urine

recently i have been delving into natural remedies that help dissolve blood clots and promote cardiovascular health when i stumbled upon this article... http://www.all-natural.com/urine.html. apparently the kidneys produce an emzyme called urokinase which activates plasminogen directly, which is used to dissolve blood clots in the arteries and veins... unfortunately the only way to naturally ingest this emzyme is by drinking your own urine.

urokinase definition... http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/...9955/urokinase

plasminogen definition... http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/...03/plasminogen

comments anyone?

I could totally make some sort of comment about Uki's great fondness for watersports here.

Oh wait, I just did.

hardy har har... this was to be a serious thread yo, now you had to go and ruin it.

synthetically producing urokinase is a muti-billion dollar industry and yet here it is produced naturally in ones own body. just think of all the people who cannot afford the big pharm brands to treat their problems relating to blood clot formations.

the use of urine, either internally or externally, has been documented in various cultures; in Taoist practice, my teacher has mentioned that the "formula" is the urine of a pre-adolescent boy - evidently something to do with it not containing the degree of hormone found later (hey, I don't claim anything, just reporting what I was told); ostensibly this is supposed to be a great "tonic"; others advocate only using one's own urine, not someone else's; personally, although I have never done it, I know of one guy who was a long-time and high-level ba gua practitioner who claimed that he did this on a regular basis; one claim he made was that it helped him one time when he had a tooth go septic and he eschewed the use of anti-biotics, using, as he put it, "formula p" and a combination of herbs such as golden seal, echinacea and myrrh; again, just reporting what I heard, not condoning or condemning either way, just info for the thread;

intuitively, the concept in general does not strike me as inherently implausible - for example, there may be some sort of endocrinological feedback loop associated with ingestion of urine as a way for the system to self-regulate, I don't know - I should get my wife's opinion and do a little Medline research about it perhaps...

actually everytime you suck your snot it amounts to eating a booger of sorts...

fecal matter is the bodies real waste... if it weren't the case, we'd have thousands of years of cultural proof that it is beneficial to ones health, yet we do not, most people agree it is simply poop.

are you knocking indonesian food? i must admit that mei fun is not quite the gourmet food of choice, but it's edible nonetheless.

I have also heard in TCM using the urine of pre-pubescent boys as an astringent among other things.
If ya don't wanna end up on Gene's "Busted Sifus" thread, I suggest you don't ask your students parents for their kids' pee.
Witch Hazel might be a safer bet.

There are some drawbacks.

First, let's not forget that it is effluence. It is waste that the body doesn't want. That is the natural thing.

If you have any form of hepatitis, and you never know, you just might in this day and age and not even know it (get a check up) then any usefulness you might of thought urine had as a consumable is rendered inert.

Otherwise, it is fairly sterile but doesn't have anything in it that you don't have in you anyway, and so, there aren't any rock solid and clear benefits to it's consumption.

If there was, we'd all be having a big frothy glass of our own pizz daily don't ya think?

actually it is the excess nutrients that the body does not need at the time... the true waste byproducts are absorbed into the intestinal tract and eliminated with your poop. urine is nothing more than filtered blood... as far as what i am reading about the topic anyways.

perhaps modern taboo(most likely due to religious dogma) is a key factor in perpetrating the misinformation? it seems like it is still practiced in certain cultures to this day...
