Movie Review: The 3 Swordsman

The Three Swordsman (originally: knife sword .....)
Director : Taylor Wong Tai Loi
Producer: Liu Gin Faat
Action: Tony Leung Siu Hung,Yuen Bun
Cast:
Andy Lau Tak Wah
Bridgette Lin Ching Hsia
Tsui Kam Kong (elvis)
Yu Li
Leung Si Ho
Si Qing Gaowa
Tung Wai Wai,
Chiu Chin
Gan Tak Man
Anita Yuen
Xu Jin Jiang

overview:

Siu Sam Siu (Lau) and Ming Jian (Lin) are preparing/forced into a duel. Siu is framed for the murder of the Empress and he flees to find the real killer. Wam Dao (Tsui) plays a famous General who has retired from the MA world. He returns to capture Siu. The climax ends with the duel which will reveals the murder and Siu's lover butterfly/red leaves, who has been kidnapped.

Review:

Good story plott but it just drags on and on. The MA scenes are impressive but production/special effects is lacking as obvious wirework is present.

Question:

Hey why does Bridgette Lin always play this type of cross dressing as a Guy?

Lin the Cross Dresser

Did a little research into my previous question and found:

"ever since Lin's legendary role as Asia the Invincible in Swordsman 2, she has been typecast. She usually plays a powerful woman, a woman masquerading as a man, or even a man—as is the case in The Three Swordsmen. In films like The Bride With White Hair and Dragon Inn, this kind of typecasting is actually good thing, for her parts in those films were plum roles. But here it seems that conceit has run its course. For one thing, why cast a female as a male in this film? Unless the filmmakers wanted to add another layer of ****erotic subtext between the swordsmen" by sanjuro 2003

Still a very sexy woman/man??
