bike ride

got tired of saying, i'm not ready for 'the hill'

mapmyride app screwed up again, but will give the basic idea of the ride. for some reason, it didn't start me till late and ended me early. the house sits right on the 1200' line...and you can see where the route line cuts corners at intersections where I did not cut a corner. and, there is a discrepency of mileage between it and my bike computer though the time is close. mapmyride had the ride as 3 minutes longer...but, i have to set the app, put it in a pocket, put gloves on and go...then reverse that process to stop the app. the bike computer doesn't start clocking till the wheels start moving. so, elapsed time is fine, but it's just simply losing me at points on the route.

the hill

fun downhill, popped out of the driveway heading down it was suddenly 30mph

uphill wasn't really that bad. between HoloHolo Street and the house is pretty steep and my cadence was down in to the 40's and I had to stand a couple of times.

I added the cross streets in at both the bottom and coming back up to try to get the mileage around 10. it wouldn't have felt right othewise.

from the bike computer

Mileage: 9.53
Time: 1:04:20
AVG Speed: 8.89
MAX Speed: 39.39
AVG Cadence: 73
AVG Pulse: 161
MAX Pulse: 191
Kcal: 1402

whoa, i missed seeing my heart rate climb that high...must been at the end when i couldn't see much of anything

hike/walk

this will be another one to add to the mix for sure as it's basically flat. I'll do it again soon to get a better base time as I stopped and looked at stuff and took pictures a bunch. this took place within Koloko-Honokohau National Park.

http://www.nps.gov/kaho/index.htm

Lots of historic stuff to see and take pics of. While i was walking I was moving pretty well and even sprinted some of the inclines! promise...i did

Koloko-Honokohau

lol, if you look at the graph, you can tell how many times my pace dropped to 0 and for how long.

next time, i'm not going to take a pack, tank up before hand and take just a water bottle and definitely look at doing it as a ****lek of sorts: sprinting the uphills.

been busy, no workouts unless you count the last 5 days I've spent basically auditioning for a job as a caretaker for an estate...this evening I was told I got the position. Tomorrow I start to move in to the caretaker's cottage...and it's ****ing pimp. Great opportunity and i've been sweating the outcome because they wanted a couple. I've convinced them that I will have no problem with any task and am basically born for this type of thing.

Compensation is the cottage, including utilities (even internet) plus a stipend that is twice what I need to pay bills. 40 hour week, live on premises and they were adamant that I make sure to get out have a life besides the property.

and, to top it all off: 258 this morning. though, i think i'm a bit dehydrated despite drinking water as often as I could.

no workouts to report...except all the tree material i've moved friday, monday and tuesday.

after all the dirt moving and tree moving of last week, and knowing what this week was going to look like I didn't plan to do anything over the weekend as I was completely worn out friday evening. plus, i had to move from the ohana to the cottage. that only took 2 trips saturday and a trip sunday, plus cleanup at the old place.

ate what i wanted over the weekend and was 261 monday morning.
this morning i'm 253.

clothes are continuing to fit looser, though I'm probably technically dehydrated I think there is some fat loss going on.

the hydration is difficult with the pace of work. and hard to track. I know I'm drinking at least a gallon and yesterday I know for sure I had at least 7 quarts of water plus another quart of juices for my protein shakes.

diet is very stable at ~1 cup cooked brown rice and two eggs for breakfast. a healthy portion of olive oil for fats in the cooking process. hot sauce on it all. sometimes a big spoon full of peanut butter if i'm wanted something sweet with the 2nd cup of coffee.

lunch is 34-51 grams of protein and 21-42 grams of carbs by way of fruit juice.

dinner the last 6 days has either been a couple of ham and cheese sandwiches on whole wheat or a chicken breast, rice and brocolli.

def need to switch up the veggies and add more veggies

Monday Weigh-In

256

stable.

no workouts, just hard ****ing work.

i also just got smacked in the face, again, with wheat and cheese...since moving here, my cheese and wheat intake had dropped even more so than normal...which was still down 70-80% from before I got introduced to paleo diet and some ideas about wheat and cheese in particular...i'm not paleo and never will be...but, i discovered that reducing them from my diet had an affect on my sinus and lung health.

since moving to the west side on May 30, I've had absolutly no wheat in any form and ate cheese only once.

then, early last week after getting my ass kicked by this job, i got lazy and bought some bread, meat and cheese for sandwiches for lunch and dinner.

about 3 days in, i just started getting more and more congested. I'm going to power through the rest of the bread and cheese, see if it gets worse over the next couple of days, and then reaffirm my commitment to 90% or less consumption of wheat and cheese.

crazy week...a rock wall with a waterfall inside/on it is being torn down and rebuilt...my only participation is to rebuild the plumbing inside but i've been helping to haul off the old concrete and monitoring and sketching the plumbing as it's being torn down...anyways...didn't realize the masons would be here at 7:30, didn't weigh monday morn. but, was 253 monday afternoon and 257 tuesday morn.

need to add workouts back in obviously since i've leveled off with the work load.

finally got a workout in

http://www.mapmyhike.com/routes/view/126610843

it's 4 times up the hill on the property. 3 times down.

ftr, i did one lap up and down before this but forgot to turn wifi off on the phone so didn't get gps to kick in. fixed that and started over. wanted to record 4 times up the hill.

it's still not a totally accurate record. if the start elevation is 869 and finish is 1066 and i did the exact same thing 4 times then i should have a total gain of 788.

anyway. it's a bit of an ass kicker. took me 5:05 to do the first ascent where the gps didn't kick in. it is incline all the way, at no point does it even go flat for a bit.

heart rate at the top of the hill for the 5 ascents per my polar:

172
183
184
184
187

Sunday walk Monday Weigh In

http://www.mapmyhike.com/routes/view/129292341#

6 times up the hill.

last week was 5, with only for recorded.

last weeks record is way off. this week is closer to the truth. i don't know what the issue is with the app. i guess it's losing gps signal at times and just extrapolating.

anyway.

252# this morning.
