- Tradition is a great foundation for building...but lousy as an end destination in and of itself.
To practice 'traditional' methods only is an affront to your ancestors and your progeny...doing so ignores the freedom and work they've provided you with to expand on their teachings...and add your own experiences to them for the next generation.
This in my mind is 'reverence': to learn well what has been handed down to you, and then respectfully improve upon it.
