As the host of the upcoming workshop I would like to expand on the main topic of the upcoming event. Many of you are probably aware that in the Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun system there are two distinct areas of Chi Sau training that need to be explored. These are what we term in our family as Tan Bong Fook Chi Sau, familiar to most Wing Chun families and Kiu Sau Chi Sau which is unique to the HFY family. As mentioned, both of these types of Chi Sau have distinctly different areas of focus but also share some common ground and each directly relate to the HFY Inside/Outside the box and Tin Yan Dei concepts. It is very important for the HFY student to understand the differences and similarities between the Tan Bong Fook Chi sau and Kiu Sau Chi Sau in order to truly comprehend the time and space concept. GM Gee will be introducing this material in the Tempe AZ, HK and China workshops scheduled for September and October 2009 recently announced by the HFY Secretary.

Sifu Lowenhagen and Sifu Mark Jones are two pioneers of the wing chun history research team. They are currently working on a special project regarding wing chun. Because of this ongoing project, our GM Garrett Gee has been doing a lot of research around the world. In addition to his own knowledge GM Gee will include information from an upcoming interview with Bruce Lees' sister Phoebe Lee at the Hung Fa Kwoon headquaters sharing her knowledge of Bruce Lees' early wing chun influence.
More information will be provided in the near future on our web site.

For those interested in HFY Kiu Sau technology, I can say that this seminar will be a real treat.

As in particular one of the areas covered in the seminar will be how the body mechanics of HFY Kiu Sau are defined and expressed in our SLT.

Through this expression one can truly see the fundamental role Kiu Sau plays in HFY's core concepts and principles of our Wing Chun system.

I encourage anyone to attend who is interested in exploring the art of occupy space, and how the Wing Chun bridging hand is much much more than simply Tan Bong Fook.

Good training to all,
