Well, you just gotta respect Sammo Hung.
With the amount of weight that guy carries around, he can sure MOVE!

1940's - 1950's: Shek Kin (Mr. Han) In his younger days, he could move! A Law Horn stylist who learnt from Grandmaster Sun, Yu-Feng, he is the most prolific northern sil lum martial artist. You gotta rent some of his old blk & white movies; they are classics.
1960's: I cannot remember much of the sixties, except for Ed Parker on the Lucy Show... and Bruce Tegner books /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Fresca soft drink tasted much better then.
1970's: Bruce Lee and Angela Mao(period)
1980's: Jackie Chan in redubbed Japanese versions (music is more in sync). Fu Sheng and et al in the Nam Sil Lum Shaw films. The Lau Bros. for all the Hung Gar movies...
1990's: Jet Lee in the later movies - the dark ones like the "Black Mask." Michelle Yeoh who can kick Jackie's butt...can kick mine also.

Hmmmm... I never really enjoyed Bruce Lee movies. I mean, he can move well and all, but the films themselves as films were just atrocious. Anyone else notice how Chuck used to be all furry and now he's smooth?
For my money, Stephen Chiao is the man. Hong Kong's martial arts comedian and star of such greats as Hail the Judge, King of Beggars, Forbidden City Cop, and the greatest flick of all time, God of Cookery.
After Stephen, I'll take Jet Li, though again I tend to prefer him in the funnier ones like Fong Sai Yuk, Last Hero in China, Tai Chi Master, and Kung Fu Cult Master. He's really well suited to comedy but is often cast too seriously.
After Jet, give me the early team ups with Jackie, Sammo, and Biao. Those were just a lot of fun.
At the bottom of my list would be pretty much every american martial arts film ever made with the possible exceptions of Only the Strong and the Matrix (which is really a Hong Kong film anyway)

For the Martial Arts themselves in the movies, I gotta say Jackie Chan considering Drunken Monkey and Drunken Monkey II. Good Drunken Boxing.
2nd. - Jet Li, Once Upon a Time in China II.
3rd - Samo Hung, Martial Law + some films w/ Jackie Chan.
4th - Bruce Lee. OK Martial Arts in fist of Fury but something in his fighting style makes me annoyed. Maybe my sub consciousness is jealous of him but something about 1 man agains 70 others with 1 hit kills just doesn't register in my brain.
Samo wasn't always fat. When he was in Chinese Opera School with Jackie Chan, he got a debilitating leg injury that forced him to the bed for a long while. Thats when he got fat and then his Master layed him off.

He didn't bring anything of his own attributes to the screen sooooo....
No comparison w/the others. He was a marketing product brought in to sell all that Crow's topps trading cards, shirts, and other junk. Just like the Monkees were brought in to capitalize on the Beatles... I enjoyed his sister's appearance on Martial Law more than any of his other acting roles.
I keep on thinking that he is the son of Kwai, Chang-Caine instead of Bruce's.
Gordon Lui (not only is he a good stylist, but he looks GOOD doing it!) Jackie Chan,Sammo Hung, and Jet Li!

This isn't based on my estimation of martial skills, but on whether I enjoyed the movie they were in...I don't feel qualified yet to judge ANYONE'S technique, they all look better than me. :D
Adrian Paul's Highlander. I've loved some of the forms I've seen him do on the show, and the character of Duncan is great when he's dark and brooding. He was a big inspiration for me to start into CMA.
Jackie Chan. Love the physical humor he brings to the screen.
Jet Li. Geez, that guy is impressive.
Bruce Lee. He's just SO universal, people who've watched no other martial art flick will have seen his.
Steven Seagal. His moves just look so lethal...he'd make a better bad guy though.

There are so many....let's see.
Jet Li
Bruce Lee
Donnie Yen
Jackie Chan
Yuen Biao
Sammo Hung
Yu Rong Guang (Deadend of Besiegers, Green Hornet, Holy Robe of Shaolin Temple)
Jet Li
Gordon Liu
Cynthia Rothrock
Angela Mao
Michelle Yeoh
Moon Lee (so **** cute!)
Yukari Oshima
Jet Li
Brandon Lee (he was awesome in Rapid Fire!)
Now for my "Are you f'n serious?"....
Van Damme and Seagal? Seriously???
Yes, it very realistic for Van Damme to land one strike in the full splits while he makes an "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah" sound for an extended dance remix. And there is no way in hell he would have beaten the Chinese dude in The Quest! No way!
Seagal may be good in real life, but he does not translate well on screen in my view. Besides his movies now are garbage....he's fat, old and all the bad guys talk about how great and tough he is but they fight him anyways. Whatever. Someone needs to tell Seagal to get off the phony Buddhist Native American Indian Zen Country singer whatever else kick of the week and get on a treadmill. Spend some that energy beating the inches off his waistline instead of his wives. 'Nuff said!
