Sorry, our UFC/poker party kept me from the internet.:D:cool:
At least Randy acknowledged the unintentional head butt that cut Gonzaga.:o
Mad props to GSP for ending Koscheck's spree.
A good bunch of fights, all in all.
Bummers; :(
Kedall Grove getting KO'd
Huerta vs. Crane
Not getting to see the fight that left all the blood on the mat.
Not getting to see Guida, Mir, or Babalu fight.

Huerta vs. Crane
Huerta is a beast, he is a smart fighter! He won my respect. Using the video screen, that was smart!

I am not sure why anyone though that Gonzaga would dominate Randy.
His KO of Mirko was a bad read on Mirko's part rather than superiour skill.
I don't think Gabriel is over-rated, he just needs more experience that's all and perhaps his coaches need more experience too, considering that in an interview before the fight they thought that they could get Randy to gas out .
GSP is the man !

I don't get it...you can't see anything there.
besides, I have it on good authority that randy hired a Chi master to Chi blast Gabriel, hence the broken nose.

My whole evening's teaching tonight was themed on the importance of head pummelling. Randy's control of his opponent was awesome.

Randy prepares for a fight, not just physically, he is always in shape, the man studies his opponents and know what he needs to do and does it, usually in his losses you can see that he either didn't do that or maybe his ego got the best of him ( like trading punches with Chuck).
His boxing has come a long way.

i am glad gsp won. he is my favorite fighter in the sport. its probably passe in this day and age to be thinking of it this way but i think he is a good roll model of how an athlete should behave. he is skillfull but also respectful. he always exhibits good sportsmanship.
couture is also a classy fighter. always fun to watch and never a loud mouth arrogant guy. i think neither of these fighters need to be. they have enough skill to not have to talk a lot of trash.
huerta is a great fighter. every fight i have seen of him has been very exciting. and that monitor move was hillarious. he said he has done it before. but yeah all in all i thought iwas a good night. the next one is going to be AMAZING and FREE!!! i love spike tv.

I got an e-mail newsletter from Brandon Vera's website, apparently he will be fighting Tim "The Maniac" Sylvia in October. Fighting a former (the most recent former) heavyweight champion....might they give him a title shot next????
:eek::):D:cool:
And props to his wife for winning the Girl Fight thing (that I didn't get to watch 'cause my cable provider doesn't carry Oxygen).

What else is there to say about GSP that hasn't been said before?
He had my vote regardless way ahead of time, just 'cause he's from my hometown... but even then it helps that he is widely acknowledged as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the hsitory of UFC.
My favorite bit was watching Koscheck's pre-fight interview clips when he was going with disbelief "[GSP]'s gonna out-wrestle me!??"
Yup- you got it: he outwrestled you.
...That look of disbelief on Kos's face during round 2 while Koscheck was trying and barely succeding in evading a Kimura for more than half a round was priceless...
It sure helps that GSP has class to boot. Kos isn't a bad fighter but his attitude stinks and he was in bad need of an adjustment. He's still young and I'm sure his time will come.
