Wow, Fancy!

A thread with the terms "Core" and "Cycle" together! :D

...What exactly is your simplest definition of a "Core Cycle"?

Cheers,

As far as i know a core cycle is the way your hands cycles during certain combinations of techniques. It can be forward/backward/upward/downward/left/right/inside/outside to apply the ying yang concept with fluidity.

So, like, "Grab-Punch" (ex. Lap Da), "Deflect/Jam-Punch" (Ex. Pak Da), "Redirect-Punch" (ex. Tan Da), or "Trap-Punch" (ex. Gum Da) ?

The core cycles are more clearly demonstrated in the mainland wing chun styles.
Brian Scanlon, jim Roselando or Hendrik Santo would have a clearer understanding of it since they practice those styles.

Oh. Ok. Guess I'll pack up my sparring kit and quit the thread, then. ;)

Ciao, hope you find what you're looking for!

Im of Lok Yiu Lineage -

In short we have one main cycle. That is - actions comming from and returning to the center during exchange for the use of covering and protecting the body when on defence and having correct VT structure and support with regard to the center when attacking.

In that though with body movement etc...the cycles are in every direction and are heavily geared towards not using force against direct force where possible.

The habbits or behavior of our core cycles (first time ive heard that term) are drilled into ones natural reactions in the following 'main' drills.

- Chi Dan Sau - Poon Sau - Lop Sau - Gor Sau - Lux Sau - then full contact sparring.

Each Drill leands itself to the next and goes through a learning period seeing the drill go from a co operative learning tool to a fully competitive non co operative testing platform. Some at full force others with lighter intent for obvious reasons.

Thats my short version Dale - im slackin at work :p
