LOL @ still arguing about crossing the ankles from the back.

Basically, anyone who has a few months in BJJ knows it is dangerous because you open yourself up for an ankle lock (there is even a technique for forcing the person on your back to cross his ankles so that you can ankle-lock him). BTW, crossing the ankles from the back is only dangerous when your opponent is on top of you.

I believe what you saw from Nogiera was him crossing his ankles as he started to lose the back mount and was in danger of falling over to guard (which is what ultimately happened). He crossed his ankles as he was falling off to the side (you cannot be ankle locked when off to the side or when back mounted from the top) to help him attempt to stabilize and recover his back mount.

Can you cross the ankles from the back? Yes, if you are aware of the ankle lock and uncross as the opponent moves into the lock. This can be a good strategy to use as a distraction to sink in the choke.

You can also cross your ankles if your opponent starts to escape by putting his back to the floor. If you cross your ankles when you start to come off to the side, that will help you to transition to the mount.

Am I correct , Yes or No??

I believe you said once before that you have a BB in BJJ, is this correct yes or no??

"Just dangerous"?
Would there be another way to describe it?

If it was obvious from the beginning, why would you have to ask if it was a mistake for a rookie?

Can an advanced grappler cross the ankles? Sure, because he knows the subtleties of when and when not to do it (side vs. top vs. bottom).

Should a beginner cross the ankles? No, because he wouldn't be able to differentiate between these subtleties.

Would an instructor who had half a clue ever demonstrate taking the back and crossing the ankles to his students (as was shown on that video). Not unless it was in the context of teaching the ankle lock and/or how to defend it.

If you weren't completely clueless about the ground, would you be arguing about this without already pointing out the specific exceptions and under what conditons it might occur? Of course not. Waiting for me to point these specific examples out shows how clueless you are.

Now you are going to go back to trying to insult me again??I never had chance to say anything before a barage of BS came my way and just because I did not say anything does not mean I did not know.

Saying I am clueless about ground work is an overstatement. From a BJJ/ GJJ perspective I am. But that does not mean that I can not defened myself from the ground, grappling or striking.

I do not understand it from a BJJJ/ GJJ perspective. I was attempting to become enlightened by the people ( you and others ) who have experience in this area. even without a BB in BJJ/ GJJ or little knowledge of them, in general this can be and is and obvious danger.

We were starting to act civil and sorting this out. Can we start over and get back on topic ,yes or no??

I asked why it was a rookie manuever and if I have seen UFC/ MMA/ BJJ/GJJ BB guys do it all the time.

Do you see the difference between what it is that I asked and what everyone is assuming??Yes or No??

Everyone was saying that it is never done and that only a rookie would do it, now you have said that it is done in certain situations, under specific conditions, by skilled fighters, which is contradictory to what was posted before.

This is why I asked. I already knew the answer because it is true with any technique , there is always some risk of a counter . NO technique is fool proof.

Basically you answered my question, thanks.

And as a matter of fact I believe in one of my posts I did point these things out .But they were ignored , it may not have been this thread but one that is connected to it.

What exactly is wrong with your computer? Heck, I could have built you a new one in this time.None taken. The problems I was having with my computer are numerous. I sent it to gateway because all the local guys said that this was the way to go. All of my videos are on my hard drive. I now have a loaner until mine is returned.
