Invitation to the Swedish Open Tai Chi Chuan and Nei Jia Chuan
Championships & Festival 2007

Hereby we would like to invite you to the fifth Swedish Open Championships for Tai Chi Chuan and internal Chinese Martial Arts.

The Championship will take place Saturday the 26th of May in Vasahallen in Linköping, Sweden, approximately 200 km south-west of Stockholm – easily accessable by train or bus.

Last year competitors from Norway, Austria, Canada, Russia and of course Sweden participated in the competition. This year we are working hard to make the Championships even bigger and better, and we hope for even more participation from abroad. May is a very good month to visit Sweden!

On the day of the competition there will also be several Martial Arts demonstrations and a dinner in the evening.

The day after the competition, Sunday the 27th of May, there will be a pushing hands workshop. Swedish Open gathers lots of experienced teachers of different styles. We want to take advantage of this fact and invite some of the teachers to teach at the workshop. The focus is on pushing hands which should be a common ground for most of the participants. The workshop will be split-up and the time distributed among the teachers, some of the time we will also focus on free pushing hands between all participants.

The workshop will be open for everyone (not limited to competition participants). Check the website for any last minute information.

If you know more people who might be interested, we appreciate if you help us spread the word.

Welcome!

Some things that are new for this year:

* New experience levels for forms:
Beginner: < 2 years
Intermediate: < 5 years
Open: Open for all

* By public request we have changed back to the old time limits for the IWUF-42 handform. The form must be finished between 5 and 6 minutes, otherwise scores will be deducted. All other forms should be done within 4 minutes.

I would also like to mention that we once more will have a special award for "Best overall performance". Last years winner of this award was Jonathan Krehm from Toronto, Canada: http://sweopen.se/results_2006/index.html.

As last years open pushing hand workshop was a great success we will use the same approach this year too.

Hopoe to see you in May!

Best regards,

Mattias Nyrell
