I read that Chiu Wai was called hung gar king in Hong Kong. My question is how is better Bucksam Kong or Chiu Wai. Just causing a little trouble.

Listen very little to names as most are self-given or given by students.

"Listen very little to names as most are self-given or given by students."

I don't know who this is but his Hung Gar looks quite solid to me:

Well Wong Fei Hung would probably be considered the Hung Gar God.
Lam Sai Wing the Grandfather.
I like to think Lee Yat Ming would be the next to assumbe this position being my Sigung but I just like to tell myself things.
And then I go even further to think to myself that Ng Ngai Foon (My Sifu) may be good enough to inherit this, but he's an engineer at TI so he's too busy.

Personally I think Wong Fei Hung is nothing more than the sifu with the best PR firm. No question he was a good man and a good sifu; however is PR people rival Tom Cruise as far a promoting him.

howzabout, Hung-Gar Elvis!

Dude - that one's already taken bv Elvis Stoiko - you know our Canadian, Olympic and World Gold champion figure skater, the one that kicked Eric Lindros's a$$ in a bar-fight :].

Sorry TT - if you want that title, you'll have to fight Elvis for it :D ;)

Where did you read that?

Sigung's a badass, no question. He visited my Sifu's school in 2002 and taught a series of seminars. Even in his 70's, he's totally buff and looked like he could break half of us young guys over his back. Look at this guy! (http://www.hkhunggar.com/Chiu%20Wai.jpg)

But there's at least one person from the older generation (Lam Jo) still around, so I imagine that's just a nickname within his group. I have no idea how to answer the question about Buck Sam Kong. All the big names in Hung Gar have done their part to spread and promote the style. And considering that Sigung is in HK and Buck Sam Kong is in LA, I doubt either one feels there's a rivalry.

Sorry, did some one say Elvis (http://www.martialartsmart.net/wm-606.html)?

I'd second Ravenshaw's comment, only sigong dissed my long hair at the time. He said it long hair was only for bad men. And it wasn't even that long back then. He just didn't like us hippies. I had to sit at another table at the honorary banquet. :(

Once more, did some one say Elvis (http://www.martialartsmart.net/kb206.html)?

Chiu Wai is pretty buff. Did he lift weights or is that super hard hung gar training?

Dont forget about Lau Kar Leung, besides being one of the oldest and 2 generations after Wong Fei Hung he also did a lot for making hung gar famous through his movies. His father learned from Lam Sai Wing.
:D

I only wish I can perform like that when I reach that age!

forget about Hungga 洪家 gods, semigods, kings etc. , this is realy stupid to think like this.

as for the people i know, i have deepest respect to Grandmasters and Masters like Lam Jou (he is 96) and his sons, Dang Gwokwa, Y.C. Wong, Jiu Waai (Chiu Wai), Lau Galeung.... "martial arts - one family" 武林一家, ok?
