I'll be the first to admit that i'm probably one of the most fortunate guys around, having the opportunities that i've had to learn some great kung fu systems. When I first started learning, my brothers and I started under Sifu Yuan Chan, who taught Buk Sil Lum and Tong Gar systems. At that time being young my regards to history and lineage had no bearings on me, only that I was learning some pretty cool punches and kicks. As I began to get older under Sifu Yuan and started learning some things quite naturally things began to change. Sifu Yuan taught us this lesser known system of kung fu called Tong Gar Kuen, which was attributed to the chinese hero Tong Chin Gan. Through the years this kung fu was something I learned and practiced in memory of Sifu Yuan, however when talking with Chiu Chi Ling about Tong Gar and Tong Chin Gan and he telling me that there was some sort of memorial to Tong Chin Gan at Shaolin Temple, after hearing this and recollecting what Sifu Yuan used to say to us about Tong Boxing it sparked a new interested in this kung fu. With only 3 boxing skills, staff, broadsword, butterfly knives, fork and shield and sword. With interest from folks in my area i've decided to teach this curriculum. As one may imagine this system relies on upperbody power aided by a strong yet flexible horse. The primary attacking tools are the Tiger Claw and Buddha Palm. Boxing skills consist of Stance and Footwork practice, elementary boxing: Sil Mo Kuen (Small Martial Fist), Dai Mo Kuen (Big Martial Fist), Black Tiger Running & Dodging Fist, Lohan Fist and Palm Form and the Black Tiger Hand Sparring Set. Movement of this system are short and dynamic with many powerful combinations.
