Well, I think he has some interesting conditioning ideas. Some of it loks like it may be Chinese Lock training, wiht dumbells, but ultimatley I think this guy is a JohnC Kim style cult master in the making. Especially with the insane animal sounding breathing, the bizzar facial expressions, and that wild frik'n hair!

oh ... haha ... i watched it without sound.

at my new job i generally keep the speakers off until after 5.

GunnedDownAtrocity

not even just that hes cut ... doing some of that **** with sledgehammers and the like wouldnt be easy ... especially with in that rep range.

hahahahaahahahahahhahahaahahahahahahahahaha

that video with and without sound are two entirely different videos.

[edit] .... seriously ... when i watched that earlier today all i saw was some cool ab work, some stuff with dumbells i thought would be bad for your elbows, and a bit of 70s/80s cheese.

man o man was i missin out. thats ****ing great.

If all students were that dedicated (in any style), .......

Wow!

there' a couple of things he does in there that are pulled straight out of locks and there is some stuff in there that is iffy. IE: punching a heavy bag with a weight.

For one thing, that's not so good on the heavy bag and because the weight has all the forward momentume, it pulls you along instead of moving with you like iron or brass rings would.

the sit up/ stand/ military press is from lock training , you can find it in Goju karate along with the v-ups with weight.

His iron bar was the wrong weight and size for him and he wasn't deriving any real benefit from it and using it as a staff was...well, again, not really beneficial.

some things ok, other things not so ok, but that's just my opinion. I found his mook jong stuff to be really mechanical. Which is not a good way to be on the jong. It's gotta flow.

Oh, but his fro is righteous dudes!

One of my students brought me the video tape of this guy, it was like 20 minutes long...much more stuff. I think the guy was in NY, Queens of the bronx..I didn't check his site yet...

But I saw this guy in 1991/2...hence the ridiculous outfits...

Nothing can explain that hair though...and the grunting..

But seriously, yes, some tech is debatable and very 'iffy' as someone put it...but don't take anything away from this guy...he's a training animal. I hope to train as hard as him.

With the cheesy music and the grunting it reminded me more of a porn flick from the 1980's. The only thing missing was this (http://www.evl.uic.edu/tomk/dolemite/sounds/name.au)

I do have to wonder what toll if any that his training has taken on his body.

And please inform him that Cleopatra Jones wants her Afro back.

I'd have to see him in an MMA venue to know if what he is doing is any good.:D

actually, punching the heavubag with weights isnt a bad thig. The weight stops against the bag, rather than on the air, so it doesnt pull yor joints/tendons,etc In SPM, we to somethig similar, but we throw the weights.

David Jamieson

well, your heavy bag will have a short lifespan if you hit it with a dumbbell.

extending the arms in various striking positions in a controlled burn with a weight in hand will get you a lot more benefit than hitting a bag with it.

Royal Dragon

I tend to agree. I think hitting a 450 pond heavy bag filled with Iron sawdust would work better.

I happen to have one!

Ha, ha, ha. No one spits game like Dolomite used to! LOL. I still remember Big Daddy Kane giving up against Dolomite, and it was on Kane's album! LOL

With the cheesy music and the grunting it reminded me more of a porn flick from the 1980's. The only thing missing was this (http://www.evl.uic.edu/tomk/dolemite/sounds/name.au)

I liked it, exception being the dumbell punches.

Royal Dragon
11-12-2006, 11:07 AM
The reason I didn't like the dumbell punches are more because he massively broke form while doing them.

He did the same with many of the core body exercises where his legs were weighted. Maybe it's becasue my daugter is a gymnast, and a damm good coach, so I have the bennifit of her experiance with keeping me in proper form with those exercises, and I know how hard they are when done right, so I don't see the need for weights if you can't maintian the proper form, but to me much of what he was doing was a waste of time.

You guys are dissing this dedicated martial artist. Yeah,we don't agree with all of his training methods, but you guys need to take a look at your training and your bodies.

im pretty happy with both my training and my body. my abs might not be all that ripped right now, but there's a reason for that and your mom dont seem to mind.

and we arent making fun of his training methods or his physique.

Royal Dragon
11-13-2006, 02:54 PM
No, but I am critiqueing some of them.

He is useing leg weights, when he isn't keeping proper form, which is cheating.

I thought the Womans workout segments were funny though. They looked like womans workouts from the 70's I wonder how old those clips were?

GunnedDownAtrocity

right right .... but still ... most of the comments are directed at the noises that dude was making.

he sounded like a cat in heat getting ****ed by a rhino.
