I am not the who posted that clip.
if i were to post one it would be one that compliments me, not embarrasses me.
however, in my physical condition at that time, the fact the i worked all night and went to perform in the morning, the fact that i was exhausted, i still did better than some of you.
i'll put money on the table that most of you couldn't put something together like that instantly. that was all free style, and not a set that i was taught.
so all in all, not bad for something i put together as i went along.
i doubt you could do that.
What is the point of this thread?
If you're gonna post to insult someone, you should have the balls to view their response.

The content in the form was execelent if you know what you were looking at. As far as Franks performance well it looked like he was having a bad day.
Let he who has not botched up a form during a demo throw the first rock. As far as I'm concerned When I watch some one perform a set with great traditional content, that just tells me that with a little work I'l apreciate the set and the performer.

Just for the record I haven't said anything about Frank's form. There is really no point in me criticizing Frank's form because he is on my ignore list and so I will not be reading his responses or those of his associates.I'll let the video speak for itself.
If other people want to criticize Frank or his form...hey it's free world. I know that Frank didn't put that video up but he did put himself out there on the street performing and when you do that, as I know from experience, you open yourself up to all kinds of criticism...both the constructive kind and the down-right mean-spirited kind. But that's life..and Frank's made his bed on this forum and so now he's got to lie in it.
The reason I started this thread is because I want discussion of forms from the video thread to be in another thread so that people can easily sift through the video thread to find video content. And if anyone feels I'm unecessarily picking on Frank here, you're wrong...I specifically outlined what I wanted people to do in the "guidelines' part of the video thread (if you bothered to read it)....and you'll notice that I've followed through on this with every video that has generated discussion. No exceptions.

Fu pow, I'm sorry I didn't know that we were not allowed to coment on the video. And by the way you are a crafty one and I know where this is going.
I don't mean to take sides here but you have a lot of distain for frank, so I don't feel that this thread was started for any other reason than to show a video that was not posted by Frank.
Fu Pow Is it ethical to post videos of a CLF brother without his consent. I'm starting to think Lama Sifu may have a point about this Forum.

Fu-Pow Im confused if Frank’s on your ignore list why bring him up as the subject.
No matter what you intended it just looks like your baiting him.
Also whoever put the video on google obviously did it with out Frank knowing about it.
I don't believe that anyone can say they’ve never done a bad demo a friend of mine has some excellent video footage me & him training it’s good footage because it was done in an informal relaxed atmosphere, he also I might add has footage of me doing one of the worst embarrassing demo’s I’ve ever done in my life.

despite his protestations to the contrary, it is quite obvious that fu pow started this topic out of spite for frank by showin frank in a bad light doing a form a little on the poorly side and finishing by dropping the weapon.
This happens! Big deal. No one here can claim they haven't made errors in demo performances at some point. Except for maybe that freakish little ratboy dalglesh lol. just kidding, but really, what did you think he posted it for?
he posted it to take a pot shot at frank as soon as the ammo was available.
so we gather that frank is ashamed of that ergo a little heavy in the ego and fu pow took advantage of his shame ergo a little light in the courtesy department.
just sayin...

in my own defense,
i did do the set poorly, and my own students who know how i move agree that i didn't perform like i wanted to be there. but, if you look at the techniques, and overlook my legs and horse, the techgniques are still decent however i performed them at a measely medium speed.
i want everyone to realize from my stand point that i was paralyzed from the waist down and told that i would spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. can any of you fathom what it took, or what is was like for me to get to where i'm at today.....(not 2 and half years ago but today)?
it's harder than any of you think. on that performance, of course i would be exhausted from a 12 hour graveyard shift where i only wanted to go home and sleep. that mixed with legs still recovering from being paralyzed (which is still an ongoing process) was not a great recipe for a performance.
and i appreciate those who understood that that was something i would never have posted my self. hell, i want people to compliment not clown me.
but yes, we all know fu pow is waiting for some reason but he wants to talk smack sooooo bad. i'll let him though, because if that was my best, i shouldn't even be on this forum.
however, i'm debating if it's necessary to redeem myself here, but i'm planning on recording me doing a set, then with the aid of my classmate that has access to the "RedMan" outfit, i will be showing some applications. with the redman i can actually blast away full power without the fear of injuring my classmate.
if and when this gets completed, i think that would redeem me. who knows?
hskwarrior
06-13-2006, 10:45 PM
yes i was ashamed of that. that was the first and only time that has ever, and i mean ever happened to me. Hell, if you ever run into my sifu, ask him. he knows i've never dropped my weapon before.
like i said, what you don't see is me cursing like a mad man because that stick was all wrong for me, and i dropped it.
but i know we all have had bad days, but i still say in my own defense.......
not bad for a guy who was told he would never walk again. huh?;)

clf nole,
it was made up, but from moves from my stick set. i was too tired and if you watch me closer, you will see i am thinking too much, i even pause on which direction to go in.
but, no that wasn't a tradtional set passed down from the fut san hung sing kwoon. what i did there just had alot of traditional techniques. the form i intended to perform is newer. actually, it is a set that was passed on to me from my sifu.
our double ended staff is one of the traditional ones we teach.

hey folks,
let me tell you something. because of video camera' and our fear of them, i've got this free style clf down pat.
i can create a set (rough and rugged) out of thin air, because all i know is choy lee fut. whatever i do is choy lee fut because of that.
my stick set was taught to me by someone who truly understands choy lee fut as well. so regardless if traditional or not the fact of the matter is would it be effective or is it a bunch of bullsheet?
to me, a traditional set has equal meaning to something that was created in modern days. it had to be created by someone. it always is.

I thought it might be cool to start a video thread just for the Southern folks. Maybe the mods would be willing to sticky it.
The guidelines are as follows:
1)The video somehow relates to Southern Kung Fu....ie Choy Lay Fut, Hung Ga, Choy Ga, Lau Ga, Lee Ga, Mok Ga, Fut Ga, Fukien Bak Hok, Lung Ying, Bak Mei, Southern Praying Mantis, Lama?, 5-ancestors, Tai Shing Pek Kwar?, etc (sorry if I left anyone out..... or included anyone that shouldn't be)....
....also could be a practitioner of a Southern art competing in San Shou, San Da, Lei Tai, Kuo Shu, MMA?, etc. But please tell us what art they practice.
2) Let's leave Wing Chun out of it. They have their own **** forum after all!!
3) If you have comments about a specific video please start a new thread about it. This makes it easier for others to surf the thread for vids without having to read comments.
4) When possible, please try to post a link directly to the video. Don't send us searching through a web page of 100 videos.
Have fun and enjoy!
Does it make sense now or should I say it few more times?

so WTF is fu pow talking about?

06-14-2006, 12:56 AM
Look I think it is fair that Fu-Pow did not do this to spite Frank.
1) Fu-Pow did not post the video someone else who already admitted to posting it did.
2) Fu-Pow created the Southern Video thread and probably would like it being used properly.
3) 7 pages of dialogue was generated from posted regarding Frank's video on the Southern Video thread and someone complained about it already and I am sure there are a lot more people annoyed with the arguing.
4) Ultimately LET IT GO!!! it is over...unless someone is badmouthing Frank and I only recall one person doing the bad mouthing (and it wasn't Fu-Pow) then let it go.
You guys keep on posting on this thread will only keep it on the top for everyone to see. Since the topic is closed and I am sure Frank rather not have the video shoved in his face then let everyone call it a night.

iron silk. you da man.:D
I appreciate what you are saying.
but, what was once my living nightmare, isn't so bad after all. Everyone has been supportive and understanding so in return i will post something when its done to make up for this fiasco.
but as i watch it more and more, i see two things. 1) a poor performance. I saw a tired person wanting to end the set wo he could go home and sleep.
2) aside from me doing it medium speed (sloppily) if you look at the strikes they're not too bad. all i needed was a better horse and not to be so exhausted, and that would have been a fine performance (oh yeah, and not drop my weapon;) )
could it have been better......yes way better. but considering the circumstances, i won't kick my self too hard. i know i look better than that today, and that's all that counts.
thanks again iron silk.

in all fairness to fu pow, if you scroll down this forum, you will see that after someone posted a video, he often opened another thread thats similar to this one. obviously he wants the video thread to contain links to as many videos as posible with little discussion on it.
frank, i think you are making a big deal over nothing. i think you should see the majority of people here seem to support you. weird huh? you ruffle things up here, stirring all the time, but still you seem to crawl under everyone's skins  . Anyway as far as the video is concerned this is percisely why I don't let people video tape me. Even at demos we tell the audience to turn off the cameras.
Anyway it's nine O clock NY time and the clock is ticking I go under the Knife at 1:00 and I will definatly not allow anyone to video tape me during my recovery but I will share mys training and rehab and listen to all suggestions about chi gong and what have you. He posted it because that is how the system works. It doesn't hide that fact that you posted - it only hides your actual post. For example, I just blocked hskwarrior (only for the purpose of this demo) Now, all of his posts say this:
This message is hidden because hskwarrior is on your ignore list.
It shows me that he posted something, but doesn't let me see what he posted. His next post may have indeed been that, as you are on his ignore list as well.
grammatically, I would've said
"I hope your clf is better than your intelligence" as opposed to his stupidity, because the former says "I hope your clf is good, because you aren't that smart." What you said is almost the opposite.
