I't makes me think of Dejian for some reason. Anyone of you guys know anything about this form? I've got the vcd and intend to play around with it, so a nice discussion would be a good warmup. Good clean fun:

Shaolin Rou Quan is their "soft fist" routine.
It consists of moves from tong bei and tai tzu quan, and Lohan, among other things.
It was their "tai ji" like form before Chen tai ji came about.
I think this form had a different name sometimes in the far past.

Here's what they say about it:
"Shaolin Rou Chuan is an inner strength exercise of the Shaolin school of Kung Fu. It is said to be created originally by the second master Hui Ke of the Song shan Shaolin Temple, consisting of 3 sets of Rou Chuan exercise. It was taught only to the senior monks of the temple and only within the Temple's compound, not to be spread to the outside world. This form's exercise consists of gentle and forceful continuous movements with combination of mind, strength and proper breathing. It is suitable for the middle aged."
Interesting that it is attributed to Hui Ke, that's pretty far back.
That would make the form have plenty of Lohan movements, which I clearly see on the video file you posted a link to.
The form has lots of moves that are the same as Tai tzu quan, which is dervied from Shaolin Lohan and Tong Bei.
Ahh, I see, this form is the Lohan 13 Shapes chi-gung combined into one form.
So, if this form is older than Tai Tzu Quan, then it might have served as on influence on it, since the similarities are very close.

Even if the form does have very old origins, it looks to me that its certainly had some more modern taiji influence on it at some point.
