I think this lady represents Wing Chun much better than guy in the "Rate this guys Wing Chun" thread. What do you think?

i liked her.
good use of torque from hips. intelligent use of footwork. she could probably be right 'handy'.

She's hard not to "like".. I saw her commerical and thought it was cool--but realistic? Well--it was a commerical after all.. Hard to imagine training in her school--I think I would have a hard time concentrating.. :D
My German isn't so good but in this clip it sounds like she's saying, "Where is your car?" Not sure what that might mean but I take it asking out a lady of her caliber I guess it would be better to have a nice car to pick her up in... LOL

9/10. Looks like the type of girl I'd want to take to a movie and have some coffee with. Is she taken?
Edit:
Oh wait, you mean her Wing Chun? Dunno. Hard to tell from the video. Does anyone have her number or address? I'd like to find out first hand.

That looked more like 'how to mug a guy' than self defense. Nice and explosive and uses her hips. It looks like the kind of stuff they try to get through my thick skull where I'm training, though usually we start against the opp throwing a straight punch (or sometimes a hook).
Am I right in guessing that the question 'wo steht dein auto' is just to distract the guy?
I guess the point of this exercise is that the bad guy is being so obviously threatening that she decides to hit first.
I don't mean to be critical because she is obviously way beyond my league but I think it's weird that she finishes up with the strike to the belly. She'd better have a lot to put behind it or it might just bounce off if he tenses up. OTOH I wouldn't want to test that theory against her.
The last time you see the sequence, it's totally obvious on her face that she's about to hit him. Nice on film but a giveaway.

you know, I'm probably the last guy to look to for advice on how to mug someone. But wouldn't it be more effective to wait for the guy to tell you where his car is before knocking him out? I would think taking the keys from an unconcious body and running around a parking lot while mashing the unlock button is a lot of time wasted when you could be speeding off avoiding the cops already.

Looking at it again... you guys that know your stuff, do you think she turns her hips too far on the final strike? She's turned totally away from him. If he's not destroyed by that final hit then she has to swing all the way back before she can continue. She just handed him an opportunity maybe.

I was thinking along those lines. Overall her motions are IMHO way too big. Her hip is disconnected from her upper body motions in the Lap-Da. The uppercut is connected to the hip - even though the motion is overdone and she ends up facing in a direction completely off from where her opponent is, which indicates no concern for a realistic scenario where you never know how good your punch might have connected. Add the typical idiot opponent who freezes after the very first action and you'll get a nice lil' McFantasy-Fu ****tail.

Like most of you guys, I think she's really attractive. Blond dye job aside, she's got that fit / shapely thing going on and she's a pretty Eurasian to boot.
On with the thread though:
I thought the pak da / foot step was cool - and may even be effective given she was smacking the guy in the throat.
The lop sao/ palm seemed kind of shaky to me too. It's hard to lop an arm and hit against someone who's taller and stronger when you stand right in front of them- they just tend to follow your lop with a downward hit of their own, or they just grab you.
The body strike, despite it's ostensible power (hip connection, etc.) was probably a bad move. The problem wasn't that she was facing away from him ( she wasn't - she was in a 'side neutral' stance or false lead) but rather that her movement put her not just in front of the guy, but also closer to his rear hand. So now she has to deal with his sloppy body lock or haymaker attempt.
That being said, she was really, really cute....:p

I saw her commerical and thought it was cool--but realistic? I didn't realize that it was the same person when I posted the clip. I really don't like the commercial at all.

The "over emphasis" on the turning is something I have seen often from many of the Leung Ting offshoots..
I would guess she is of that lineage.

What the hell might as well look at some other stuff she is doing...
Maybe we can get her to come on the board and comment on the moves.. :D
First off I have no idea what the starting pose is except for the obvious Chum Kiu stance, which I admit does highlight her curves well.... :D
For the guard she's got two pointy fingers up and not really on the line--okay, must be a cultural thing--like "talk to my fingers" or something.. :o
Then she goes for the hand or forearm chase when she could have just hit the guy.. I question the need for this but it does serve to demo bi-directional energy and gives her a bridge to play with.. And then the hand replacement..
The second hit, the palm strike, because of her distance being off turns into, as we used to call it in the hood--a "moosh", which was probably due to her stepping on the guy's foot instead of closing more and stepping in and under his base.
Finally the finish--again good lines.. :D
But I would have suggested the groin as a better target than the gut--and had her finish with a leg attack/takedown--perhaps a kwai sat and a few elbows dropped for good measure.
Fun to watch though, which is a lot more than I can say for most of the "WCK" clips out there.. :) :p :D

^but they're not cute:(
oh well, let's see. the first video, i can't see why the last move would send the guy flying away. had she pushed him away using the armbar she already had, it would have made sense. Also about 3 seconds into the clip, is the guy trying to punch her or the invisible man standing to her right? I'll comment more later. Bedtime

More ladies to judge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNoAoK2r-3w&search=wing%20tsun). Some of the second lot are a bit heavy set and dangerous-looking, but otherwise this whole demo is pretty much showing how close wc is to no-touch chi KOs. ;) :p :D

The second chap is Sifu Henning Daverne. He is a Danish sifu and one of the main driving forces behind the full contact WT fight clubs in Denmark.
Take the p1ss if you like mate, but these boys are quite used to a tear up and as always, it's dead easy to sit at the keyboard and deliver virtual expertise on the strength of a couple of minutes of grainy film.
Happy training.

In no way was I commenting on their abilities. The demo was sh!t tho. Typical run at sifu and fall over bollocks that gets a gasp and applause from a gullible crowd.
IMO most people in MA and in particular WC, need to lighten the **** up. I literally take the **** out of everyone, and that's what I'm like person to person too. Does that mean I have no respect? I don't care!:D I get people laughing and maybe even questioning something of what they're doing and the preconceptions they hold.
If I put up a vid, I would expect nothing less in return, and would even offer it myself... if I put up a vid of people falling over at a light lap sau, or a light foot sweep from a chair, I would expect people to be laughing at me too.
Happy training. Thanks Tom, you too mate.

Mat is right, the demo is not good when you look at it from an experienced WT point of view.
The point of these kinds of demos are not to illustrate WT for us anyway but to promote it to a broader audience. And if you where to really show how a fight would look like, the spectaters wouldnt see what was going on, or if they did see it wouldnt understand what was happening anyway.
So you make a compromise, big deal
As for sifu davernes abilities, well he sure can toss me around at will so.. :)
enjoy the nice weather out there, go practice and have fun

OK OK OK it's cool :)
It is just that you read the board and it just amazes me how topics lurch off course and seem to jump tracks on to the same old rehetorical bashing. Most times, I can't be bothered to get into it but every now and then......well......just exercising my right to free speech too :p
If I remember rightly, the topic under discussion was Ms Wagner, not Messrs Daverne and Reimers.
@ Mat - No-one made any comments as to your abilities, I am quite sure you can handle yourself.....so cool. However, since you brought Sifus Reimers and Daverne into this, I was simply pointing out that if you were judging them on the strength of the demo, then you have done them a diservice.
You say that you are not judging their abilities from the demo so again...cool.

I don't know of any other sport where pros and top amateurs diss demonstrations and call the broader fan base and hobbyists 'pussies'.
Can you imagine a top tennis player making fun of all the people who play tennis for a fun workout? Or a pro basketball player ridiculing somone showing off trickshots that would 'never work in a real game'.
The few good fighters I have the honor of knowing never talk like that, why is it so common on the net?

I agree she's got some good torque, but she's not using it. It's actually slowing her down. She's got potential, but someone stronger than her could definitely overpower her.
She's got style; she's got grace, but her hips are out of place. ;)

I think her demo shows more in terms of what would actually work than most WC demos out there (compare her upper cut into the gut with the body mechanics behind it vs. the finishes with slappy little backhands that you see in a lot of WC demos).

True... but at least she is using mechanics that have been shown to be effective in real fighting (vs. the little backhand arm slaps to the neck that are shown in most WC demos).

That's a joke, right?Terence,
First of all, I agree with the comments made by Dale and chi sau.
Second, the comment I made was in comparison to this clip (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4665843802078039718&q=wing+chun) that was in another thread posted around the same time frame as my original comment, so it has to be taken in context.
And third, I think she'd kick Geppy's butt.
