Recently, I have been doing some research on the 8 Step Praying Mantis system. I have discovered that this is another rich style of the Northern Praying Mantis family. Under the late Grand Master Wei Hsiao Tang, I found that there are 2 division of schools (Mr. James Shyun and his other classmates (Mr. John Chang, Mr. Zuo Xian Fu, Mr. Ernie Wu, Mr. Vincent Chen and many others). I was moved and touch by what I have read (www.8-step.com) about Grand Master Wei Hsiao Tang and all that he has done to spread 8 Step Praying Mantis and to keep it alive. I hope that there is a future in reunification of the 8 Step Praying Mantis system.
I am presently looking into the possibility of moving to Taiwan for 2 years to work and to study Chinese. Also I hope to study 8 Step Praying Mantis with one of Grand Master Wei's student. If anybody can provide information on studying in Taiwan or how I can contact 8 Step Praying Mantis instructors in Taiwan, I would be most appreciated.

No offense to anyone, but Wang Jie in Taipei is the only route to go IMHO. I hope I can make it to train with him someday, but from what I have seen of his, and felt of his students he is the schnizel!

Cheers
Jake :)

Mr. Zuo Xian Fu is a very well respected 8 Step master who studied under GM Wei. He now has a school teaching 8 Step in Taipei, just 5 minutes from the closest subway station. From Taiwan, you can call his school at its publicly available phone number, 02-2933-9651. From the U.S., you would dial 011-886-2-2933-9651. Mr. Zuo is the one demonstrating Li Pi in the first video on 8-step.com. Hope this helps, and best wishes in your studies.

Three Harmonies,

Thanks for the recommendation. :)

EarthDragon,

I have been reading the archives from this forum. The information from the archives lead me to believe that there are 2 divisions of 8 Step Praying Mantis. You have contributed much threads and topics relating to 8 Step Praying Mantis. :)

Lapu Squard,

I am very grateful to you for providing Mr. Zuo Xian Fu's contact information. Yes, I saw Mr. Zuo Xian Fu's video on Li PI (8-step.com). It was an excellent demonstration. :)

My thanks to you all for your responses.

ah gottcha, Unfortunaly this same observation has been mentioned many times before. As I and many others have wished that shyun would open up more about the rest of Wei students but seldom did. Infact he always told us he was the inheritor and it was a us and them thingwhich is very unfortunate.
its a shame that the seperation has made people outside the family think this way as well. but thank you for answering my questions good luck in your pursuit.
