This video is kinda ugly to me because of the thugish attitudes of certain people in it, but there is some very interesting footage of two guys fighting in rather deep water.

It got me thinking about what kind of strategies and techniques could be most successfully employed in a situation like that (something I had never considered before.)

Blondie had so many rocks in (and to) his head, I was sure he was gonna drown.

re deep water fighting, step one is to have EXCELLENT cardio - being able to relax and hold your breath is also key.

Strategy-wise, I think using your opponent as an island is a good one (providing they don't have a sharp weapon.) Simply dunking them until they no longer feel like fighting seems like an efficient tactic. For more severe confrontations, just increase dunk time.

Fighting w/ scuba gear is a different matter - not only are you protecting your body, but also your air supply. Wing Chun's straight-body facing principle is applicable in a 3-d environment - no matter where around your opponent you are, always stay facing them, even if you're over or underneath them.

Interesting and kinda scary at the same time. Even though that kid was an ass, I couldn't help but notice his tenacity. Kainoa rocked him to within an inch of his life, and the kid wouldn't give up, I mean, he didn't even get TKFO'd! Granted, he's got a broken face, but can we give him credit for not giving up?

What a random place for a bit-o-biffo.... cheers for the link.

Almost looked like a perfect place for the free style, swimming punch. (running punch in water  )

Although it looked fun, i do prefer the Hawiian 'Hot box' :D

I dunno, is "not giving up" an honorable train here, or is it stupid? Whats that saying about stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome?

This kid continued to walk INTO a fight over and over and over, and di so purposely for that matter. Tenacity? Or immaturity?

YES!!! The earth is over 70 percent water!! You can't be too careful or too prepared! You never know when you might need to fight in/underwater! I believe this is also applicable to fighting in space!

Take up water polo. They have all those those uber deadly water fight secrets.

While you are at it, there are probably several strategies and techniques which could be employed when you are in a straight jacket. You been thinking about those, too? You never know when the men in white coats might be coming for you.

props to kainoa on his bjj skills... the double leg takedown was smooth... text book side control, switches his base and gets the mount...

but, to me (when it was on the beach for the 3rd fight), it looked all over... the blonde guy was on the back foot the second kainoa put his arm out, or grabbed him or whatever... there was such hesitation.

I actually have a feeling that the third time the blonde guy didn't want to fight - and from the looks of it, he was just your average joe - not trained at all.

cheers,

Wow, this is gay. Does the Kainoa guy have down syndrome or some sh*t? Oh wait, was the blond dufus surfing in a part of the ocean that the Kainoa dip sh*t owned? These guys should try an education.
