Just curious as to what you all thought about William Cheung's article on "Wing Chun's 4th Center" in the latest Inside Kung Fu. Was it informative and useful for today's Wing Chun fighters or just another bunch of non fighting theory propaganda promoting nothing useful to the real fighters in today's world?

I prefer to leave my comments of the article for a later post, after others post their feelings first..

I just read the article after first discovering it in Barnes and Nobles...only about 3 hours ago.

Nothing new in it for me.

Just a representation of the BOEC he's been teaching for years now.

Very good - as far as it goes.

But there's more to fighting than BOEC.

B......Balance
O.....Openings
E......Elbows
C......Crossed arms/legs

Great standup fighting formula - until the clinch or the attempted single or double leg takedown comes.

Then it's time for a different formula.

That article came out in Australasian Blitz about a year ago, I think. Good article, but all stuff I've been hearing about for 8-10 years.

I went through all my old MA mags on the weekend and cut out articles I wanted to keep. I've got plenty of literature on the same stuff, so I tossed that article. There was a good article in the mag on grip strength training I kept.
