8 Step does this, acupuncture, and abimoxi heal with it. Is striking based on the diurrnal qi flow part of your awareness while fighting?

MoreMisfortune is closer to being a useful fighter than clockwatchers going for specific points.
Just my humble opinion.

I am not that good a fighter that I can think of that while fighting. In fact, I couldn't even think of that in a controlled sparring situation.

In my experience, getting punched in the head sucks no matter what time it happens.

not bragging, but i fight better than most if thats what your wondering I was saying, with your outlook stated above, you have a better chance of becoming good fighter than someone who tries to hit a specific nerve according to the time of day.
In fact, that's not what I was saying, it's pretty **** near what I said!
Jeez, it's hard work agreeing with someone around here! What's up my droog?!

I haven't started my acupuncture training yet, and I don't know dim mak, so I think that I'm just left with attacking pressure points - which sometimes I do.

My fighting strategy is to deliberately injure my opponent.

I've never beena believer in the "striking certain meridians at certain times of the day" thing...
It's 9pm, gotta kick him in the rectum...

what happens if there is a meridian shift in the middle of the fight?

Well, your superior chi sau skills will allow you to sense the shift and you will automatically know where you need to hit next.
Just hit really really hard.
Then make up some BS about disrupting his chi by wearing awesome pants or something.
people will believe anything when they see the results.

gfx has disrupted the correct's chi with his awesome pants and punched it really really hard in the head.
Pressure points strike is about accuracy.
Use enough force to penetrate.
Hard punch is not necessary.
We really need to know the theory of 5 elements well first.
Jin Mu Sui Fe Tu.
Metal, wood, water, fire and earth.
Timing table will be known.
but seriously, dimmak, dian mai is all about hitting vulnerable spots with large amount of force over a small contact surface.
I think damaging soft tissues with something with the equivalence of a steel rod hurts no matter where/when it lands.
Which brings to the interesting point that, if all we are doing is to try to make our fingers as strong as steel, why not simply bring a steel rod with us? Maybe back in ancient times metal was a luxury, but what about now?
however, I'd imagine being able to only execute a "deadly" technique in a certain time of day/month/year is very very impractical. I suspect maybe it originated from certain actual event, and got twisted out of proportion.
For example, maybe some powerful person have an old injury that will hurt during rainy seasons, which greatly immobolizes him. The said person's enemy could then exploit this and thus beat him. Afterwards, when asked how he was able to pull it off, the enemy answered that "during spring, his chi blah blah blah", which is how they explain injuries like this in traditional medicine. ( please fill me in here with the proper explaination ) Then this got spread around, and after a while, we get the time of the day/month myth.
