I visited a martial arts class a couple of week ago. The guy was Hsing-I teacher by the name of Allen Carrol, claimed to learn from someone by the name of Pittman? Anyone who this guy's teacher is?

Allen Carroll learned from Allen Pittman. Pittman trained first under Robert Smith (with whom he co-authored 2 books, one on Hsing-I, one on Pa Kua), then later in Taiwan with the sons of Chen Pan Ling and with master Hung I Mien (brother of Hung I Hsiang, who founded the Tang Shou Tao). Heh, heh. Well, the one I'm referring to grew white hair, went into retirement and wrote "Martial Musings", but hey, close enough :D .

Yes, he's quite credible. He was accepted as an adopted son by Master Hung I Mien (Master Hung is a famous master of the Chinese Internal Arts who specialized in Bagua. Hung's master was the legendary Chang Chun Feng).

From what I understand, some people feel that Mr. Pittman's method of explaining the arts is a bit eclectic. Apparently he equates the 5 element theory of Chinese cosmology to certain aspects of European mythology and other things as a way of understanding the concepts. I've never really looked into that aspect of his stuff myself.

And yes, Allen Carrol is the real deal from Allen Pittman.

I'm the same guy. I'm short on cash and it looks like I'm not going to be able to continue with Sifu Ku anymore.
