While becoming a popular style outside of china recently there isn't much to tell just what it is?
I'm an VCD junkee, especially since they only cost between 4 and 10 dollars.
I picked up these 2 on Omei (different teachers) and there was no discernable character traits.
What I mean really is that they were doing shaolin, Tai Chi Bagua, etc. forms.
What's the scoop?

omei
i'mof the opinion from what i've read here that the martial arts from omei are seemingly a hybrid of alot of styles given omei flavour. it's been discussed here before so run a search.

We've done Shaolin specials (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=500) and Wudang specials (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=377) - those are the two more popular martial holy mountains. We've only done oneOmei special (http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/magazine/article.php?article=124).
Omei is hybrid, but it's an old hybrid. You can find literature references to it's combination of Shaolin and Wudang that go back pretty early. And now of course, it's added all the post CR stuff. But there are distinct Omei traditional forms. But it's a bit like Shaolin and Wudang where the curriculam is so massive that it doesn't nail down into something like the 10 hand forms of BSL. There are multiple lineages with a lot of variation in between.
