I didn't think his name was Yan Zhuo, but I can't remember what it I thought it was now. I must have it written in my notes somewhere. He's the monk that has often poured tea for me when I've visited Deyang at the temple. He's very nice. And a huge monk. He doesn't speak english though, so it would surprise me if he was behind this site.

Hi all again.
The man in the link that MasterKiller provide is Shi De Chao, the one with the beard. Not Shi Yan Zhuo.
As for UK MOnk question about hairs. Just remember Ven. Bodhidharma my friend.

De Chao is a sweetheart.
He is also a tremendously powerful calligrapher.
We have a huge example of his work, a giant 'Bha', in the back of our temple, executed in one stroke.

Hi all
Since 11/6/2003 Aboutshaolin (http://www.aboutshaolin.com) is not working? I made this question to the webmaster of the site.
The reply is that the site will change server and will be online soon maybe in the next 24 hours. So, all the members of Aboutshaolin.com don't worry.

Shaolin kung fu (Wu gong) still exists.
Real Shaolin Monks? Did you really believe that to a Monk of The Shaolin Temple is a joke? Shaolin Monk is a title that everyone who's staying in the Temple can have.
On the other hand, if you ask about Shaolin Masters, the answer is still YES there are.
Shaolin Temple still exists? This is the most serious question that someone can ask.
And the answer is YESSSSSSS. Shaolin Temple is Alive. Many people don't accept that or even don't like that but it is a fact.

Lao Long...
I refer to (solider / warrior) shaolin monks.
lets put it this way...
in late 70'2 early 80's there were a couple of old shoalin monks in shaoilin temple.....then by the late 80's and early 90's there were hundreds who had been there '....all there lives'.
Many eat meat, and are married (on in sexual relationships)....hardly tradtional for a monk. And most (soldier monks) dont do traditional shaolin kung-fu.
I know there still tradtional shaolin kung-fu, there is lots...but you'll have a hard time finding a monk who knows it.
i promise you that this is all true.

indeed they are.....like the masses who believe all that glitters is gold and all who have a shaved head, are chinese and wear shaolin robes and teach shaolin kung-fu in 'shaolin temple' or under authority from shaolin.

Dear friends,
i think that we used to treat the word SHAOLIN as something common. It is my personal opinion that Shaolin is something really "Holly" for all of us. So we really must feel this way when we talk about it.
Shaolin Masters? YES you can find some. Shaolin Wugong( kungfu) ? YES you can learn. Shaolin tradition? YES you can find it.
BUT you need DEVOTION and many, many years.

Hi all.
Just published in Aboutshaolin (http://www.aboutshaolin.com/weblog.php) a great article.
Why must use the term Gongfu and not Wushu for Shaolin Martial arts? You want to find more about? Just visit the English Shaolin Portal (http://www.aboutshaolin.com/weblog.php).

Yeah, real hard, there are only a few in the US that know traditional....
Oh, and I guess the folk masters in and around Dengfeng don't know any traditional, or monks like one of Gene's shifu's De Cheng, or any of his deciples....
