Again have a question regarding Dong Hai Chuan. I have it that he lived from 1787-1882. Was he friends with Yang Lu Chan (1799-1872) or Yang Ban Hou (1837-1892)?

I have documented that he and Yang Ban Hou were friends with Liu Shi Jun but have a suspicion that it was Yang Lu Chan since He and Dong were closer in age.

any info would be appreciated

thanks.

A Chinese friend of mine told me they had a friendly fight which Dong lost. I don't necessarily beleive this part but my friend said Dong Hai Chuan then castrated himself and later beat Yang. I duunnnooo just what I heard. Dong meiyou Dong

So, you're saying he beat Yang 'cause he was castrated?...

So the lack of 'something' speeded up his skills?

A story concerning the challenge fight between Dong Haichuan and Yang Lu Chan was reported in the old 1980s publications of Roger Haygood, Wushu.

Purportedly Dong and Yang fought for 3 days to a draw and then became good friends. I asked Jarek about this years ago and there doesn't appear any verification of this incident.

I doubt whether Dong was a enuch. Enuch often held minor positions of power and were detested by most. Some enuchs were in charge of tax collection and responsible for the construction of temples in China. They often smelled because of drainage and infection and overall had a pretty shytty outlook.
