Mantak Chia is very popular. Still, he is very questionable, having basically made up a teacher he learned from "in the mountains". His system is a mish-mash of various different qigong practices, and doesn't really come from an actual school or anything. If you want to do his stuff, then that's your choice, but I would never recommend that choice to anyone. I think a classmate of mine showed me that taiji book. I don't remember any specifics, but it seemed interesting.
