How about we stop gossiping and start talking about kung fu? Reguardless of our various stances on politics we are all part of one bit (corny...) family. Why can't we just stop bickering and talk about technique or something?


Here's a question, has anybody here studied any eagle kung fu? As far as we could tell on the shaolin.nl board there are basically three styles or forms: the WuShu form with lots of arials, the Shaolin form which is reletively short and not particularly flashy or arial, and the system of "Eagle Claw."

I've loved all of these for ages and wanna know other people's opinions. (I just hope this doesn't start the "THE SHAOLIN IS JUST WUSHU EAGLE CLAW IS THE ONLY REAL SYSTEM!" debate... *sigh* :D)

I know Lian Huan Quan which I've heard translated as "Continuous Fist," that could be what you mean.

From what i know there are Northern Eagle Claw (the one i do), Southern Eagle Claw (i know virtually nothing about this one) and there is the Wushu form of Eagle Claw (this one is not a style, just a competition form).

The one with most grappling would the northern, wich is chin-na based (we have like, 108 locking techniques).

Interesting a North South division...

I looked at this a lot about a month ago and found evidence of three obviously distinct forms.

There's the traditional Eagle Claw system with the 108 points of attack and lots of grappling.

There's the WuShu form with lots of jumping and postures.

Then there's the form practiced on Shi Guolin's first fist forms tape which is nothing like the two previously mentioned forms. This form has very little arial work at all and instead seems to be concentrating on postures and very quick attacks.

I'd like to see examples of the north south division, perhaps I'll stop by the school in New York once things cool down here.
