Anyone study with Shi Deshan in Houston? If so can you tel us what its like. I read that Shi Xingying decided to open his own school and I saw that Shi Yanfeng is now assisting Deshan.

Please do not reply to this post if you are going to "BASH the MONKS".

I have an ex-classmate who now studies with Shi Deshan. He enjoys the training, but recently hurt his knee and hasn't been able to work out much.

Anyway, he holds Deshan in high regard.

We have competed against his students at the Taiji Legacy tournament in Dallas, and for the most part they look pretty crisp.

hi tsingtao,
Your information is correct. there are currently three Shaolin Monk Schools in Houston(we are starting to look like New York, i think they have 4 now). Shi XingHao www.houstonshaolin.com (http://www.houstonshaolin.com) , Shi DeShan (now assisted by Shi YanFeng) www.shaolinusa.org (http://www.shaolinusa.org) , and Shi XingYing has a school too but i don't believe he has a website yet.
As for the training, the schools have the same concept. warm up, practice the 18 basics, then usually forms or conditioning. as far as i know the only differences seem to be the order in which the forms are taught....but the differences are minimal. the workouts are hard and really push you to improve, and even though i always seem to get sore and sweat a few gallons......i can't get enough. it's like an addiction.

Hopefully my reply helped you out in some way.

respect to all,
