Hello everyone.
I'm very new to martial arts and have just started Wing Tsun Kung Fu (about 3 months ago).
I've read pretty much about all kinds of martial arts on the internet but haven't still got any kind of picture on Shaolin Kung Fu. So, I thought this forum would probably be the best place to ask my questions.

Here goes...
What else is Shaolin Kung Fu usually called, Shaolin Chuan, Shaolin Longfist etc. what's the style usually called?
What are the main principles(if there are any)? Could you describe the movements in some way?

Those where just example questions to get you started and I hope you tell me anything of the style that can give me a better picture of it. So feel free to tell anything on the subject.

Thank you in advance for your answers. :)

There are so many forms from the Songshan Shaolin "School". (This is the temple Shaolin "school", the forms the monks do) There is also Northern Shaolin which many say is true Shaolin Kung Fu, but is no longer practiced in the temple. I really enjoyed these articles by Gene Ching from the ezine http://ezine.kungfumagazine.com/ezine/article.php?article=158

Otherwise I'd suggest watching video clips on russbo.com (they'll be back up again in a couple of days after an upgrade) or you could check out some of the monks websites:
www.houstonshaolin.com www.shaolinwolf.com
www.shaolin-overseas.org Otherwise, martialartsmart.com has the Shi Guolin video library for sale (he's a monk and the abbott of the Shaolin temple here in the US in New York). Hope something here helps get you started.
