hi guys
i noticed in the part 2 story about the vtm's trip to the vt conferance and the mainland that during the interview
yip ching stated" so after cws passed away,ng chun so first student, yuen kay san, started teaching" --
....my first question, is there documentation proving yks learned from ng chun so or was that hearsay by yip ching?
.....second---did the vtm track down leung jans fatsan descendents? what happened to them?
......third--where did the chan wah shun lineage get the additional forms? are they from weng chun? and who put them into the system? from what ive seen chan yiu mens students do the standard 3 hand forms, jong and 2 weapons so...did one of his sons put the additonal forms in?
thanks for your time

It was said during an interview of Grand Master Ip Ching while in Hong Kong. So far as I know, no one has made the effort to find a definitive answer.

Not as yet. There is an upcoming trip to China scheduled for next year that will focus on many historical Wing Chun sites as well as interviews with the Wing Chun community in China.

where did the chan wah shun lineage get the additional forms? are they from weng chun?

On his recent trip to China, Sifu Meng had the opportunity to speak with Chan Kwok Kei, Great-Grandson of Chan Wah Shun, in the ancestral village of Chun Wah Shun. Sifu Chan was very happy to share about his lineage, demonstrating some movements of the Dummy, discussion of history and the origins of the family, and Siu Nim Tau concepts.

According to Sifu Chan, Ng Jun So was a master of Hung Ga before he started learning Wing Chun. After CWS passed away, NJS had the opportunity to teach his juniors, including students in Chan Wah Shun’s original village. The added Hong Kuen forms were due to NJS. Today, in CWS’s village, they acknowledge both Weng Chun and Wing Chun. Arrangements have already been made for a more in-depth interview with Sifu Chan next year. I can't wait to experience his teaching for myself.

Interesting stuff. I'd heard Ng had done Ng Ying before hand, but not Hung Ga, I wonder if it was Ng Ying Hung Kuen?

Keep up the good work, and happy holidays.

Trene,

Do not always assume that BM has the same experience equal to yours. Meng Sifu may have more.

thanks jeremy!!
ng chun so....hmmmmmm.....interesting....that was the last thing i expected.....yiu choi and yiu kay(ng chun so student) have a wc along the lines of yip man with ,i think , a yks flavor(from yiu choi learning from yuen chai wan)....if memory serves the yiu family supported ng chun so until his death...i think he lived at the family home.....and there is no evidence of hung gar or weng chun in there system(that i have seen, in my limited experiance)......ive heard that chan yiu men put in the weng chun/hung gar forms...but that doesnt add up if you see jiu wan or pan nam forms.......hhmmmmmm...the plot thickens
i wonder what ever happened to ng chun so's older brother who learned from chan wah shun as well??/
thanks for the info.....very good food for thought

how can someone read the interviews that the vtm has conducted? does one have to be a member of the vtm staff? can someone donate personal time. working for free at the vtm
(doing whatever is needed) for membership.
i ask because i am in a very poor financial situation and have to prepare to move in the early part of next year but would exchange my time helping around the museum for membership.

I'm particularly thankful that Benny included the menus of what he and the other tourists ate on the trip. ;)
