View Full Version : Should crime prevention be taught more in MA?

Besides obvious combat techniques and confidence delivery when itīs already too late to check out if there was something you could have done to avoid that from happening to you? Important thing to think about it seems.
I mean actual prevention advice,like "donīt do that,donīt go there" etc.
Could be more like a concern of pure SD teaching as few have time for this in kwoon,am I right?

We cover a lot of this and similar work in our style, in fact the psychological is given as much importance as the physical.

Some of it stems from bodyguard type training and some of it stems simply from the question - why are you squaring up to someone?

IME it's a question rarely asked in martial art schools.

I think crime prevention should be taught in every martial arts. A person should learn real street fighting counters first; learn how to take out a guy in a snap, then the next step would be more subtle submission.

i dont think it should be part of every martial art simply because there are lots of reasons to learn a martial art and people might not want to learn crime prevention. i think it should be an option but not compulsary. id do it tho.
