What is Kiu Sau?

Rolling Hand,

Kiu Sau in the HFY system is a level of training before learning Chi Sau. The primary focus is on learning to use the forearms to engage with an opponent before making wrist to wrist contact. Training begins with simple reaction to a stimulus from several angles/locations and then progresses into developing structure and skill.

There seems to be a connection between HFY Kiu Sau and Chi Sim Kiu Sau but it will take more time to ascertain the level of connection. This is very interested as both lineages' oral history state that their systems originated in the Weng Chun Tong of the Southern Shaolin Temple. For people that are interested in history, Sifu Benny Meng will be presenting some information on Shaolin, Weng Chun and Wing Chun.

Also, I've just found out that there will be a special Baai Si ceremony on Sunday. A professional martial artist is joining Grand Master Garrett Gee's HFY lineage. This event will be followed by a party - this would be a great opportunity for people to meet and greet at the HFY headquarters.

Overall, this would be an excellent chance for members of this forum to experience HFY for themselves and share their reaction on-line.

Jeremy,

On behalf of a few members of this forum, we would like, if Master Gee permits, capturing a few moments on tape and post them on-line for all of us who cannot make it over to the States.

Personally, it would an eye-opener if what you've said can be seen in actual application.

Thank you in advance.

Is it possiable that Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun has Wing Chun that was passed down by Jee Shim and Ng Mui in it in other words both versions of Wing chun that they passed on down to the present . but Jee Shim and Ng Mui are supposed to be fictional not real .I mean Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun has somethings that are like Jee Shim Wing Chun and has things that are like the things Ng Mui passed down in her versions of Wing Chun like the three main forms Sui Nam Tao, Chum Kui , Bil Jee . Hung Fa Yi Wing Chun has these in it plus things like in Jee Shim Weng Chun .

Thanks for the reply.

Please say hello to Sifu Garrett Gee for me. I'd the pleasure of meeting with him at Bruce Lee's 60'th birthday party. Sifu Gee is a great MA and his HFY Chi-Sau demo with JKD's Sifu Steve Goldberg (?) has been always in my mind...great stuff!!

I'm looking forword to meet with Sifu Garrett Gee again in the future. Have a great seminar!
