View Full Version : Leg Recovery

I go to class 5 days a week. I notice that after a point (usually
on monday, the fourth day in a row) my legs get tired way more
quickly than on Wednesday (Tuesday is off). If I practice on
Tuesday, my legs don't feel as good on Wednesday.

I figure it's mostly my legs need that time to recover, but is there
anyway I can recover and still practice (for a few hours at least)
every day? I try to eat a lot of protein (mostly fish and soy) and
tend to eat a banana a day. Would stretching after class more
help?

Also, does anybody know if cooking bananas cooks the potassium
out of it?

Thanks

Ya need your rest dude. I train 4-5 days a week depending on how I feel. I do muay thai and train at the school 3 times a week at least. Usually thats Tues/Thurs/Fri at the school but I also do my weight training on Mon/Wed/Fri.

Doing thai can be very intense on the legs, especially if your as active in the training as I am. I do 45 minutes of cardio 3 days a week, plus a leg routine like squats, leg curls etc. By the end of the week, my legs are pretty tired, and depending on who I trained with during the week, shins very bruised. That's why I take Sat/Sun off, to relax and rest my body.

My legs are getting used to it and are getting stronger but I wouldn't push anything, ya know what I mean?

My best advice, listen to your body, it can't lie. REST!

As per the rest suggestions:
I agree rest can help, but I'm more curious as to why I don't
seem to building up endurance. I did at first, but I seem to have
plateaued a bit. Perhaps I'm just too impatient.

Yeah, I just made a banana and date chutney last night. It
got me wondering if it was actually good for me in any way.
